Itinerary
-
Departure after dinner
The tour leaves shortly after dinner and runs about three hours.
-
Guided walk with flashlights
Your guide points out what the forest does at night — the bugs that run things, and the larger animals that eat them.
-
Commonly seen
Moths, iguanas, frogs, spiders; less often, snakes, and even wildcats on the luckier nights.
Wildlife you may see
- Red-eyed tree frogs
- Glass frogs
- Kinkajous
- Tarantulas and large spiders
- Moths and large insects
- Snakes (occasionally)
Don’t skip this if you are staying more than a couple of nights — the forest at night is a different animal, and it is the only way to see most of the frogs and insects people come to Costa Rica for.
What to bring
Socks (we provide rubber boots), a camera, water, mosquito repellent, a flashlight, and long pants.
